Close to Home: Murder in the Coalfield

A teenager turns up dead, and Maik Briegand unhappily returns to his hometown to investigate, where his past demons begin to catch up with him.

Some of the DNA found at the crime scene belongs to an unhoused person... Who happens to be one of Briegand's close childhood friends.

Questioning Bartko yields another clue, but Gottknecht interferes. New evidence points Briegand toward another suspect: his ex-wife's new boyfriend.

A fellow police officer is deeply entangled with Ramona's family. Gottknecht zeroes in on him, especially when Ramona's kid brother arrives at his door.

Another body surfaces with a strange wolf symbol on it. Briegand sees eerie similarities between these cases and a childhood sweetheart who disappeared.

Gottknecht is now convinced this is the work of a serial killer, and they've already selected their next victim: Briegand's daughter Jackie.
