Tim Mertens
Biography
Tim Mertens is a filmmaker known for his work on *Wreck-It Ralph* (2012), *Bolt* (2008), and *Big Hero 6* (2014). Tim Mertens was born in Burbank, California, not far from the Disney Studios. After studying at Weber State University, he returned to Los Angeles and began his career at Disney TV Animation in 1990. In 1994, he moved to Disney Feature Animation. There, he worked on films such as *Pocahontas*, *Tarzan*, *Brother Bear*, and *Bolt*. His first project at Disney was *Pocahontas*, on which he served as an Assistant Editor. Later, he worked—among other roles—as Supervising Editor on the animated film *Tangled*, assisting the directors in developing the project from initial sketches and storyboards through to the finished theatrical release. In 1994, Mertens also received an Emmy Award for sound editing on the Nickelodeon series *Rocko’s Modern Life*.
